{"id":3244,"date":"2015-10-14T13:26:56","date_gmt":"2015-10-14T13:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/?p=3244"},"modified":"2015-10-14T13:26:56","modified_gmt":"2015-10-14T13:26:56","slug":"graduates-excel-at-young-engineers-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/discovery-adr.com\/us\/graduates-excel-at-young-engineers-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduates excel at Young Engineers Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Awards-620.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2305\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Awards-620.jpg\" alt=\"Awards-620\" width=\"620\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) announced the winners of this year\u2019s Young Engineer\u2019s Awards with graduates taking center stage.<\/p>\n<p>Awards for Graduate of the Year went to the successful Ryan Rodrigues, while the award for Employer of the Year went to SDS Engineering Consultants.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan was crowned the Graduate of the Year after competing with eight other engineering graduates, each giving a four minute presentation on the concept of collaboration and its function in the improvement of buildings and their performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recognizing excellence <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Young Engineers Awards are known in the industry for recognizing the excellence of both graduate employers and graduates themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The awards are therefore aimed at rewarding the innovative thinking, skill and hard work that\u2019s necessary for the success of the engineering sector.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Mead, President at CIBSE, said that while the event normally welcomes the very best of the UK\u2019s engineering talent, this year\u2019s standard was particularly high.<\/p>\n<p>As this was the 20th anniversary of the Graduate Awards, CIBSE also met up with some of the very first winners from the original ceremonies who are well into their careers as successful engineers, he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tackling 21st Century challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s graduate engineers will be entering into a different world from 20 years ago and as a result must address some of the core challenges, including climate change and sustainability, he added.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Young Engineers Awards were presented in the glittering IMechE\u2019s headquarters in central London, where the prospective graduate winners gave their short presentations to the judging panel.<\/p>\n<p>The engineering awards are supported by three leading international engineering institutions, including CIBSE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).<\/p>\n<p>Are you an engineering graduate?
