{"id":2378,"date":"2015-04-10T12:44:27","date_gmt":"2015-04-10T12:44:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/?p=2378"},"modified":"2015-04-10T12:44:27","modified_gmt":"2015-04-10T12:44:27","slug":"25-of-uk-smes-lack-auto-enrolment-confidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/discovery-adr.com\/us\/25-of-uk-smes-lack-auto-enrolment-confidence\/","title":{"rendered":"25% of UK SMEs lack auto-enrollment confidence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Finance-IT-620.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2292 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Finance-IT-620.jpg\" alt=\"Finance-&amp;-IT-620\" width=\"620\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>British SMEs lack confidence in pensions and regulations, according to the latest report by Barclays Corporate and Employer Solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The report found that 25% of senior decision-makers in UK SMEs with less than 50 employees admitted businesses knowledge on the subject was very poor while a greater 28% confessed their individual knowledge of pensions and pension regulations was equally limited.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Auto-enrollment benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite their lack of confidence or understanding, Barclay\u2019s research actually found that SMEs are finding pension auto-enrollment more valuable than they had originally anticipated.<\/p>\n<p>One quarter (25%) of SMEs who are yet to enroll commented that the auto-enrollment scheme is a really positive step forward for smaller British businesses while 54% of those already involved in the scheme say the same.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses which said the changes were positive also recorded improved employee engagement, motivation, attraction and retention following auto-enrollment.<\/p>\n<p>Head of SME Offering at Barclays Corporate and Employer Solutions, Grant Hughes, said it is encouraging it is to see many smaller businesses realizing the benefits of auto-enrollment.<\/p>\n<p>While workplace pensions have a clear benefit to all employees, it also works as a fantastic tool for employee engagement, he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building strong foundations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hughes also commented that, as a company, they are seeing more businesses establish the use of pensions as the \u201cfoundation\u201d of a larger benefits package when hoping to attract new staff.<\/p>\n<p>The research conducted by Barclays also found decision-makers from Generation Y \u2013 those aged between 25 and 34 years \u2013 favor auto-enrollment.<\/p>\n<p>As much as 46% believe the scheme has a really positive impact on smaller businesses in Britain; something only 31% of Generation X (aged 35-54 years) agree with.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, 75% of SMEs that are already enrolled use some form of external support to help them through the process and this could help to increase confidence in the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re an SME employer and are looking for recent graduates to join your team, Discovery Graduates can help with all stages of the recruitment process.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>British SMEs lack confidence in pensions and regulations, according to the latest report by Barclays Corporate and Employer Solutions.
