{"id":14776,"date":"2015-09-25T13:21:14","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T13:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/?p=3207"},"modified":"2015-09-25T13:21:14","modified_gmt":"2015-09-25T13:21:14","slug":"female-graduates-earn-more-than-non-graduates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/discovery-adr.com\/us\/female-graduates-earn-more-than-non-graduates\/","title":{"rendered":"Female graduates earn more than non-graduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/JessKez-620.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3209\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discovery-graduates.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/JessKez-620.jpg\" alt=\"JessKez-620\" width=\"620\" height=\"327\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Women leaving university have plenty to celebrate as it\u2019s been revealed that they earn triple the yearly salary of female non-graduates.<\/p>\n<p>Official figures have been published from the Institute for Fiscal Studies and have highlighted that going to university can really pay off.<\/p>\n<p>The research also found that men can in fact double their salary if they choose to go to university, after researchers analyzed salary data from the Student Loans Company.<\/p>\n<p>The salaries of more than 260,000 graduates had been used in the research in 1998-2011, while looking at their earnings in 2011-12.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Earning more with a degree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It has been found that a female non-graduate in her 30s will take home an average of \u00a36,300 per annum, while a graduate would receive \u00a319,500.<\/p>\n<p>For male graduates, the results are similar, with a non-graduate earning \u00a310,700 and a graduate bringing home \u00a325,200 per annum.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the research also found that today\u2019s graduates are actually more \u201crecession proof\u201d compared to their non-graduate counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the research found that during the four years after 2007, graduate men witnessed their salaries decline by 14% while non-graduate experienced a 30% decline.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, female graduates lived with a 20% drop in earnings while non-graduate women saw a 40% decline in their annual salary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The power of a degree<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The authors of the research stated that the \u201cgraduate premium\u201d that was identified was in fact maintained throughout the years of recession, although all groups of individuals saw a fall in earnings during this time.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Britton, Research Economist at the IFS, explained that the \u201cvalue of a degree is therefore particularly true for women\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Gaining a degree will provide a certain level of \u201cprotection\u201d from low income and therefore works to \u201cshield\u201d graduates from the vast amount of negativity that\u2019s associated with a recession, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Are you a recent graduate?
